The day has arrived!

Yes! We are off to Orlando for one whole week, husband free, house work free, responsibility free!
Our holiday is here! Yasmin's friend Aoife and her mam Catherine is coming with us. There'll be lots of talking, shopping, eating and drinking!
I couldn't sleep well last night 'cos you always think you're going to miss that plane and my thumb was throbbing all night. I'm definitely going to lose the nail, (read yesterday's blog). But I got the tan done and my roots on last night, I scrubbed Yasmin through her screams (she has sensory conditions, she hates water, I hope she gets to tolerate it when she's a teenager!)
I'm having a pint of warm water and apple smoothie inside to set me up for traveling, I'll make a few sambo's for the plane, (I don't trust that airplane food) have my shower in peace and then I'll wake Yasmin to hear her shouts of joy!

Agony!

I am in so much pain!
I was running around getting organized earlier this morning as I'm off to Orlando tomorrow. I booked the dogs into kennels as my hubby has promised to do my back garden while I'm away! Delighted by this prospect, I didn't want to leave him any excuses not to do it, like the dogs being in the way........
My three huskies have had the freedom of my garden and have dug many holes and my plants have been well eaten, but now that I have my son Anthony's wedding next April I need it looking nice.
Back to the pain. As I was multi tasking this morning, I was getting the three very excited woofies into my jeep. I then slammed the door on my thumb! Yes! The pain, the numbing pain, worse than child birth if that is possible! And you know, I went and got my nails done yesterday, all painted shiny red with shellac. And because I'm a scruffy author, who walks her dogs, mucks out ponies and cleans her house, I never get my nails done and now this! Typical!
I know I'm going to lose my thumb nail but will I get way with it for at least a week looking glamourous in Orlando?

The Birds

Every morning I wake up to the birds singing outside my bedroom window. The first chirp starts about 5am and gathers pace and becomes strong by 5.30 and then I'm up. I used to say, 'Them bloody birds!"
Now I say, 'Them lovely birds!"I'm delighted to hear them and they remind me to be grateful for the gift of my hearing. What would the world be like without sound?
We take our gifts for granted, as if we are entitled to be able to hear, see, taste, smell and touch. In my brain washing to a more positive me, I became aware of the gifts of my senses and became grateful.
To be able to take pleasure from hearing beautiful bird sounds and seeing our beautiful earth is wonderful. Life is short. I like to get up early to make the most of my day.
When I was little my dad used to love birds and all things nature and would share his knowledge with us, taking us on nature walks and mystery tours. When his depression took him over, he couldn't find the way back.
I like to think that he's the little robyn singing in every path I walk as his favorite was the robyn.
And he's happy now.
